2. Create file .config/autostart/xcape.desktop with contents
[Desktop Entry] Type=Application Name=Shift to parenthesis mapping Exec=xcape -e "Shift_L=parenleft;Shift_R=parenright" X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=true NoDisplay=false
